William H. Truswell, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Over the past four decades, Dr. Truswell has performed over 30,000 procedures. His practice has included major head and neck cancer resection and reconstruction, and facial trauma. Today, his practice is limited to cosmetic facial surgery.
A frequent lecturer in the United States, South America, Asia and Europe, Dr. Truswell presents on countless panels and lectures across the country and around the globe. He is on the faculty of The University of Connecticut Medical School as a clinical instructor in facial plastic surgery.
He has written several papers for publication and most recently published his second post-doctoral medical textbook in his specialty, Lasers and Light, Peels and Abrasions-Application and Treatments. His first medical text was Surgical Facial Rejuvenation-A Roadmap to Safe and Reliable Outcomes.


Dr. Truswell has also published four other texts on facial plastic surgery for general readers: Your Complete Guide to Nose Reshaping, Your Complete Guide to Facial Rejuvenation, Your Complete Guide to Facial Cosmetic Surgery, and The Non-Surgical Facelift Book.
Dr. Truswell is President-elect of The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is Vice President of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is also a Fellow of The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, The American College of Surgeons, and The American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. He is a founder and incorporator of The Richard T. Webster New England Society of Facial Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Truswell attended Hobart College and graduated with honors in chemistry. After receiving his medical degree from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, he received his general surgery training in Syracuse, New York. He completed a dual residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He is board certified by both specialties and practices only facial plastic surgery.
Dr. Truswell is also very community minded, serving on the Board of Directors for the Lathrop Home of Northampton, Massachusetts, and he has served with the American Red Cross of Western Massachusetts. He was head of the Hampshire County district for the American Cancer Society and served on the board for Children’s Aid and Family Services.
For over 20 years Dr. Truswell has participated in the Face-to-Face programs of the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. The Domestic Violence Project provides pro-bono care to qualified victims of domestic abuse. Face-to-Face International is a program that sends facial plastic surgeons to perform surgery and teach local doctors advanced reconstructive techniques for facial scars, cleft lips and palates, and other disfigurements. To date, Dr. Truswell has participated in five trips to Viet Nam, two to China, and one to Dubai. He has taught and performed facial plastic surgery in ten countries on four continents.
