How does the face age?
Over time, the face ages in three distinct ways. First, lines and other imperfections appear; then, the skin begins to droop and sag, and volume is lost.
In our teens, 20s, and early 30s, our skin is taught and has the glow of youth. There is softness and opalescence with no imperfections except, perhaps, the occasional pimple. This youthful appearance starts to change as one pushes into the later 30s. The skin looks flatter and duller; then one morning, a line appears here, then another one there. Brown spots, pink spots, and tiny spider veins develop.
As our 30s pass and the 40s descend, the lines of the face begin to droop. The jaw line fades away as jowls appear, and the neck tissue hangs lower and lower, obscuring the sharp and youthful transition from chin to neck. As the years roll on, volume is lost in the cheeks and temples. The circular roundness of a young face is supplanted by the sunken oval of age.
We have a range of Procedures and Cosmetic Services that can help you bring new life to your aging face, as well as services through Syzygy: Our Skincare Spa.
In youth, the center of the face is rounded, like a circle. In our later years, the circle transforms into an oval.
In youth, lines drawn between the cheek bones and from each cheek to the chin form “the inverted triangle of youth." In the mature face, as the cheeks descend and become jowls, this triangle reverses.
What can I expect during my consultation?
When you arrive for your consultation with Dr. Truswell you will be greeted by our patient care coordinator, Jessica.
