Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal

We own the Gold Standard in lasers for hair removal – the Coherent LightSheer Diode Laser. Licensed nurses perform both the consultation and treatments under the supervision of the Doctor. Treatments are relatively painless, there is no “down time” and it is the most effective method of hair removal today.

Laser hair removal is a method of removing unwanted hair by utilizing a light emitted by a laser. It is the most advanced method for significantly reducing and eliminating unwanted hair on the face and body. We own the state-of-the-art laser for hair treatment – LightSheer by Lumenis.

This laser was designed to remove hair faster, with almost no discomfort, and more reliably than electrolysis or other lasers on the market. This laser has a special contact-cooling handpiece that cools and protects the surrounding skin while bringing the laser energy as close as possible to the hair root.

Is it permanent? The laser is designed to be the most effective form of long-term hair removal. By damaging the hair follicle, unwanted hair can be removed permanently, but because of the nature of hair and the many factors that influence the growth of hair, the results are variable. The nurse will explain the different growth stages of a hair on the body and “when” hair bulbs can be destroyed.

Is the treatment painful? The chill tip cooling lens helps reduce discomfort while protecting the skin surface from thermal injury during delivery of the laser light. The treatment is virtually painless although some areas are more sensitive than others are.

What areas can be treated? All areas of the body are safe with the exception of under the eyebrows. We can certainly treat  a “Unibrow”( i.e., the area between the two brows) but shaping the eyebrow would bring the laser too close to the eyes. Our estheticians can do shaping with wax.

Recovery? Immediately after treatment, the area will appear slightly pink/red in color and might have some mild swelling. This may feel like a mild sunburn. This feeling subsides over a few hours and the area returns to normal appearance.
