Rhinoplasty is a procedure in which deformities of the nose are corrected by removing, rearranging, or reshaping bone and cartilage. Dr. Truswell has done over 3,500 rhinoplasties. This surgery can be performed in conjunction with procedures designed to relieve nasal obstruction. A proven history of such obstruction and failure of medical treatment must be established before insurance will pay for any part of the nose surgery.
Because of his expertise in nasal surgery, Dr. Truswell is referred many revision rhinoplasties by other doctors. Revision rhinoplasty can be a challenging procedure because of the previous alteration of anatomy and the existence of scar tissue.
Recovery? A small splint is placed over the nose for about a week after surgery. Discomfort connected with the surgery is minimal and easily controlled with oral medication. Most patients can return to work (although during the healing process great care must be taken to protect the nose from injury) within 7 to 10 days.
